CCCC receives donations to help run Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children |
AVALON -- The Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children in Avalon was the grateful recipient of three recent donations. The home operates under the corporate name of Challenged Children’s Charities; a 501c3 charity organization.
At its “Charter Night” in November, the Avalon Lions Club presented Challenged Children’s Charities Corp. (CCCC) a check for $13,000. The Diller Vacation Home is the Avalon Lions Club’s major benefactor of the funds the club raises annually for charity. In January, CCCC received $1,050 from NJ Lions District 16C Charity Ball. NJ Lions District 16C is one of three NJ lions International Districts and is comprised of 47 Lions Clubs of which the Avalon Lions is the largest club member. The Avalon Lions Club was chartered in 2002 The Avalon Lions Club has 104 members and has been raising funds ever since to support community charities. The N.J. Lions District 16C supports six district charity projects. The Charity Ball is the district’s largest fundraising event. CCCC has been a recognized D16C Charity Project since 2007. This was the second year the Diller Vacation Home received a donation from the Charity Ball. The funds will be used to defer operating expenses at the Home.
In August, CCCC received $18,500 from Tim Kerr Charities, Inc. TK Charities has been a major supporter of the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children since 1989 when its first 7K Run and 5K Walk/Run was held in Avalon. Now the organization hosts five competitions spread out over the course of each summer. CCCC is so grateful for TK Charities’ donation, which provides funds to support 12 campers for a one-week all-expenses paid vacation at the shore.
