Welcome to the Helen L. Diller Vaction Home for Blind Children website! Blind and visually impaired children have been enjoying an all expense paid one week summer vacation at the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children since 1972. For eight weeks each summer, between mid June and mid August, the Home operates a camp that offers many of the campers their first experience of feeling sand in their toes or tasting salt water on their lips. The campers range in age from seven years in age to fifteen years in age and the Home can accommodate twenty campers each week. We are located in a residential community, two blocks form the Atlantic Ocean, in Avalon, New Jersey.
It costs approximately $1,500.00 to sponsor one camper for a one week vacation at the Home. Support of the Home is provided by volunteerism, foundation grants, general donations and community organizations. Key benefactors include Tim Kerr Charities, Inc., the Avalon Lions Club, and The William G. and Helen C. Hoffman foundation. The Home is a NJ Lions International District 16C supported project. Together, our benefactors make it possible for each camper to enjoy a summer vacation at no cost to their families. |
